Venue

Magnificent sailing venue in one of the largest natural harbour in the world, with a superb backdrop of the Purbecks Hills and the historically significant Corfe Castle as major landmark.  However we won't give a monkeys arse about castles, princesses, hills, cadets or even AB's once we're racing!. The first few races will be Olympic style courses, with the following races planned to be, full on, true Poole harbour orienteering - and you'll need more than a compass if our PRO has his way!

Accommodation:

We are looking forward to you coming down (promise) so if you haven't got accommodation from the local merlin guys try:

Facilities:

On Saturday there is a full blown chandlery (Quay West) next door to the club (within 2 min of the boat park). Althought car park spaces are limited they are there, worst case you park on the road outside the club. If you are travelling with small people, then Whitecliff Park at the end of the foot path will entertain for a couple of hours, additional ideas include:

  • Trip to Brownsea (Ferry fee plus entry unless NT member)
  • Trip on ferry, around harbour, or Wareham, Bournemouth, Swanage, Gurnsey, Jersey or Cherborg, we're down on the sea and have ferries!
  • The Bournemouth Aquarium click here
  • Trip to Corfe Castle click here
  • Walk to Studland and Old Harry Rocks - obviously avoiding the local nudist
    beach, unless...
  • Bovington Tank Museum click here
  • Monkey World
  • Farmer Palmers - always a great hit with the u10
  • Loads of other stuff that is nothing to do with sailing... ask Jon Gorringe or Ally Tyler, they might help.

The club will offer a minimum of tea & coffee all through the day, plus bar hours (noon onwards) which includes all the normal drinks etc. Lunches will be available between 1200 & 1400. See below for additional facilities.
